Creditline of the artwork: Most probably acquired by Jan Adriaan Frederiks, Middelburg and from 1907 in The Hague; his son, Mr Johan Willem Frederiks, The Hague, until 1962; anonymous donation to the museum, 2006. Besides, the alignment is in portrait format and has an aspect ratio of 3 : 4, meaning that the length is 25% shorter than the width. Adriaen Coorte was a painter, whose style can primarily be assigned to Baroque. The Dutch artist lived for a total of 48 years - born in 1659 and deceased in 1707.
