In the year 1535 the Italian painter Moretto da Brescia created the painting "St. John the Baptist in the Wilderness". The over 480 year-old original had the exact size: 22 1/2 × 19 1/2 in (57,15 × 49,53 cm). Oil on panel was applied by the Italian painter as the medium of the painting. Nowadays, this work of art can be viewed in in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's collection, which is the largest art museum in the western United States, with a collection of more than 142.000 objects that illuminate 6.000 years of artistic expression across the globe.
