What does the website of the The Cleveland Museum of Art write about this 19th century artwork from the painter Thomas Couture? (© Copyright - by The Cleveland Museum of Art - www.clevelandart.org)
In this painting, Couture used two famous masked characters, Pierrot and Harlequin, to satirize and critique the public and the judicial system of the 19th century. The pathetic Pierrot represents a lower-class fool on trial for stealing food from a restaurant. The stolen items are depicted lying on the courtroom floor as an indictment of his guilt. His accusers sit on the left, while Harlequin, his lawyer, argues theatrically for the defense. The artist's contempt for the legal profession and the court system is plain in the figures of the sleeping judges. A mid-19th-century observer may have sympathized with Pierrot, who for his own survival cunningly subverts authority in order to satisfy his needs.

A direct Aluminium Dibond Print is your best start to the sophisticated world of fine art replicas on aluminum. For the Direct Aluminium Dibond print, we print the artwork right on the aluminium white-primed surface. The bright & white parts of the work of art shimmer with a silk gloss but without the glow. - Printed acrylic glass with a glossy effect (with real glass coating): The print on acrylic glass, often denoted as a UV print on plexiglass, will convert the original artwork into great wall decoration. The major upside of a plexiglass art print is that sharp contrasts as well as painting details become more identifiable due to the very fine tonal gradation.

This means, it is easy to hang up your Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suitable for any kind of wall.
- Printed poster (canvas material): Our poster print is a printed canvas with a slight finish on the surface. The poster print is designed for putting the fine art print with a custom-made frame. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the poster print we add a white margin between 2-6cm round about the print motif to facilitate the framing.
