Approximately three miles separate the village of Barbizon, where Rousseau settled in 1836, and this site at the edge of the forest of Fontainebleau. Romantic artists had long been attracted by Arbonne’s rocky outcroppings, boulders, and strange, twisted trees. This painting, with its heightened color, strong contrasts of hue, and varied textures, is characteristic of forest sunsets painted during the final decade of Rousseau’s career. Throughout the composition the wood panel shows through the paint layer, its warm brown surface serving as a midtone.

Materials our customers can pick

In the product dropdown menu you can select your individual size and material. We allow you to pick your favorite size and material among the following product individualization options:

  • The poster print (canvas material): Our poster print is a printed canvas with a slight surface structure. The poster is designed for placing your art copy using a custom-made frame. Please keep in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of around 2-6cm around the print motif in order to facilitate the framing.
  • Aluminium dibond: These are metal prints on aluminium dibond with an outstanding depth effect - for a modern impression and a non-reflective surface. For our Direct Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print the favorite artwork right on the surface of the white-primed aluminum composite.
  • The canvas print: The canvas direct print is a printed canvas stretched on a wooden stretcher. A canvas produces a typical effect of three-dimensionality. Your printed canvas of your favorite artwork will let you turn your fine art print into a large artwork like you would see in a gallery. The advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, meaning that it is quite simple to hang the Canvas print without additional wall-mounts. Therefore, canvas prints are suitable for any kind of wall.
  • Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): A glossy acrylic glass print, often described as a print on plexiglass, will change the original into brilliant home décor. What is more, it offers a distinct alternative option to aluminium and canvas fine art replicas. With a glossy acrylic glass fine art print contrasts and small artwork details become more identifiable with the help of the granular tonal gradation of the print. Our real glass coating protects your selected fine art print against light and external influences for several decades.
