General description by the museum's website (© - by Rijksmuseum - www.rijksmuseum.nl)
This drawing of a lion was certainly done ‘from life’. The creature’s long dark mane spills down over its chest and well under its belly. This typifies it as a Barbary lion, a species indigenous to North Africa which is now extinct in the wild. These lions were a popular sight in menageries (zoos). Rembrandt closely observed and recorded the specific characteristics of these exotic animals in a few drawings.

Choose your product material
In the product dropdown lists you can pick your prefered material and size. The following sizes and materials are the options we offer you for individualization:
- Print on acrylic glass (with real glass coating): The acrylic glass print, which is sometimes named as a UV print on plexiglass, changes the original work of art into beautiful décor. Moreover, the acrylic print offers a great alternative option to canvas or aluminium dibond prints. Your own version of the artwork will be custom-made thanks to modern UV printing machines. It creates deep, intense print colors. The great advantage of a plexiglass fine art copy is that contrasts and also smaller artwork details will be more identifiable because of the precise gradation. Our real glass coating protects your custom art print against sunlight and external influences for up to 60 years.
- Poster (canvas material): The poster is a printed canvas with a slight finish on the surface. It is optimally suited for placing your art copy with the help of a custom frame. Please keep in mind, that depending on the size of the poster print we add a white margin of around 2-6cm round about the painting, which facilitates the framing with a custom frame.
- Aluminium dibond: An Aluminium Dibond print is a print with a true effect of depth. For the Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print your chosen artpiece onto the surface of the aluminum material.
- The canvas print: A canvas print, not to be mistaken with a canvas painting, is a digital replica applied directly on cotton canvas. A canvas generates a soft and pleasant impression. A canvas print has the advantage of being relatively low in weight, which implies that it is quite simple to hang up the Canvas print without additional wall-mounts. A canvas print is suited for any kind of wall.
