This table is part of a series of twelve scenes from the life of St. Benedict, painted around 1656, to the room of Anne of Austria in his apartment in the Val-de-Grace, due to the collaboration of Philippe de Champaigne his nephew Jean-Baptiste and Nicolas de Plattemontagne. The suite was scattered in the Revolution; we find elements of the Brussels Museum, the Hermitage, the Museum of Menton and private collection.
