A house painter from Reading, Pennsylvania, Rasmussen was influenced by the works of Charles Hofmann, a fellow resident of the public poorhouse in Shillington, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Rasmussen was committed for alcoholism in 1879 and stayed at the facility until the end of his life. Painted on a heavy sheet of zinc, this aerial view provides a detailed and accurate image of the buildings and grounds of the institution within a central oval. Rasmussen included genre details such as townspeople passing on the road and residents and workers at the almshouse. At the four corners are views of the area’s factories and farmlands seen in summer, winter, spring, and fall.

Select your favorite material
The product dropdown menu gives you the opportunity to choose your individual size and material. The following sizes and materials are the options we offer you for individualization:
- Aluminium dibond print (metal): These are metal prints on aluminium dibond material with an outstanding depth. This direct UV print on aluminium is one of the most popular entry-level products and is a sophisticated way to display art, as it puts the viewer’s focus on the whole artwork.
- Canvas: The canvas print is a printed canvas stretched on a wooden stretcher. A canvas print has the advantage of being low in weight, meaning that it is quite simple to hang the Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suited for all types of walls.
- Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): The acrylic glass print, which is sometimes referenced as a plexiglass print, will change an artwork into décor and forms a good alternative to dibond or canvas prints. Your work of art will be custom-made thanks to modern UV direct print technology. This creates deep, intense color hues.
- Printed poster (canvas material): The poster is a printed canvas with a granular finish on the surface. The poster is designed for framing your art replica with the help of a custom frame. Please note, that depending on the size of the poster we add a white margin of approximately 2-6cm round about the print motif in order to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
