Inspired by the Gospel according to Saint Luke, painting is the parable of the Good Samaritan. The Samaritan installs a wounded man on a donkey waiting by grazing the grass at the edge of a steep path. Both men were wearing turbans. The chiaroscuro emphasizes the arid rocky landscape.
