The demolition of the St. Bartholomew's Church on the island of the City, the current 4th district. Composite urban landscape. Rubble and fence. Right, one of the pavilions of the Palace. Basically, a triumphal arch (Porte Saint-Bernard?).

The reconstruction of the church by architect Cherpitel was undertaken in 1772. At the beginning of the Revolution only the facade was completed. In 1791, the parish was suppressed and the church converted into a theater (theater of the City), which became in 1807 the ball Prado. It was destroyed in turn in 1858 and replaced by the current Court of Commerce. As in many of his compositions Demachy grouped arbitrarily monuments located in different parts of Paris.
