The more than 220 year old painting with the title Gift to Admiral Bailli de Suffren on behalf of the States was made by the Dutch painter Jacobus Buys. The Dutch painter was born in the year 1724 in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands and passed away at the age of 77 in 1801.

Presenting the gift of a golden sword to the French Admiral Pierre André de Suffren de Saint-Tropez, for his merits in the fight against the British in the East Indies, 1784. The sword is presented on behalf of the States General G. Brantsen and l'Estévenon Berkenrode.
