This is one of the individual portraits that artists traditionally had to deliver at the same time as the group portraits commissioned by the Paris municipality. Jean Hébert became alderman of Paris in August 1724 and is on the ex-voto of St. Genevieve, ordered in 1725 and delivered in 1726 (Church of Saint-Étienne-du-Mont).
