Additional description from The Metropolitan Museum of Art (© Copyright - The Metropolitan Museum of Art - www.metmuseum.org)
When Andrews, an itinerant portraitist, painted the children of Nathan Starr in Middletown, Connecticut, he went beyond the traditional “conversation piece” format to offer an intimate view of the family playing an early form of badminton called “battledore and shuttlecock” in a Greek Revival parlor, whose open doors reveal a sweeping view of the Connecticut River. In what appears to be a private narrative, the youngest child in the picture, Edward, holds a hoop in his right hand and a gaming stick in his left, pointed heavenward; his death in 1835 may have been the occasion for the group portrait.

Your product material options
For every art print we offer different materials and sizes. You can select your favorite size and material between the subsequent choices:
- Canvas: The printed canvas, which shall not be mistaken with a painting on a canvas, is an image printed onto canvas material. A canvas has a exclusive effect of three-dimensionality. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight. That means, it is easy to hang the Canvas print without the use of additional wall-mounts. Hence, a canvas print is suited for all kinds of walls.
- Poster (canvas material): The poster is a printed canvas with a granular finish on the surface, which resembles the actual work of art. A poster print is ideally designed for placing the art print using a customized frame. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the poster print we add a white margin 2-6cm round about the print, which facilitates the framing.
- Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): A glossy print on acrylic glass, often named a fine art print on plexiglass, will transform the original into amazing home décor. The work of art is made with modern UV direct print technology. It makes intense, stunning color shades. Our real glass coating protects your chosen fine art print against sunlight and external influences for several decades.
- Aluminium dibond print (metal): Aluminium Dibond prints are metal prints with an outstanding depth, which creates a fashionable impression thanks to a surface , which is not reflective. For the Direct Aluminium Dibond option, we print the selected work of art on the surface of the white-primed aluminum composite.
