Canvas Prints have the advantage of being relatively low in weight, meaning that it is easy to hang your Canvas print without additional wall-mounts. Therefore, canvas prints are suited for all kinds of walls.

A critic once compared Carrière’s style to that of his colleague Auguste Rodin, writing, "Rodin paints in marble and Carrière sculpts with shadow." This self-portrait, part of a series begun in 1887, exemplifies Carrière’s signature approach. Nuanced umber tones and hazy brushwork create the impression of the figure materializing out of, or merging into, the surface of the canvas. The vague, misty appearance of Carrière’s work was prized by contemporaries tired of precisely detailed and realistic paintings. A collector from Connecticut purchased this likeness in 1893, probably at the advice of Robert Simpson Cassatt, the father of American painter Mary Cassatt (1844–1926).

The 19th century masterpiece was made by the male French painter Eugène Carrière. The work of art has the following size: 16 1/4 x 12 7/8 in (41,3 x 32,7 cm) and was crafted with the medium oil on canvas. This artwork belongs to the digital collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Besides, the alignment of the digital reproduction is portrait with an image ratio of 1 : 1.2, which means that the length is 20% shorter than the width. Eugène Carrière was a painter from France, whose artistic style was primarily Realism. The Realist painter lived for 57 years and was born in the year 1849 in Gournay-sur-Marne and deceased in 1906 in Paris.
