Forty days lasted over the city of Jerusalem, a celestial phenomenon, the heck the inhabitants fear and terror. A little later, the terrible idea came true, because Antiochus IV. (175-164. Chr.), The dreaded ruler of the Seleucid Empire conquered the city. When he tried to subdue the population by banning the practice of religion, there was an uprising of the Maccabees, which resulted in the independence of the Jewish people (2 Macc. 5: 1-4).
