This detached fresco is from a series of four ovals that were designed by Tiepolo and painted by his workshop for the decoration of the corners of the ceiling of a room in the Palazzo Valle-Marchesini-Sala in Vicenza. The attribute of the obelisk identifies the allegorical figure as representing Fortitude.
This classic art masterpiece was made by the male painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. The more than 260 years old original measures the size: Oval, 45 5/8 x 33 1/2 in (115,9 x 85,1 cm). Fresco, transferred to canvas was applied by the Italian artist as the technique for the work of art. Giovanni Battista Tiepolo was a male painter, printmaker, whose style was primarily Rococo.
