Original description from The Metropolitan Museum of Art (© Copyright - The Metropolitan Museum of Art - The Metropolitan Museum of Art)

Although originally produced in great quantity, paintings in tempera on linen from this period are quite rare. Eight surviving examples show this tender Virgin, her eyes modestly downcast, looking at the Christ Child, who eagerly grasps her breast to nurse. The prayers in the surrounding inscriptions are connected with the Immaculate Conception. This doctrine maintains that Mary was conceived without sin. Since indulgences were granted for the recitation of such prayers, these small paintings on linen were probably mass-produced for devotional purposes.

Materials our customers can pick from

We offer a range of various sizes and materials for every product. Pick your favorite size and material among the following options:

  • Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating on top): The acrylic glass print, often described as a UV print on plexiglass, transforms an artwork into stunning home décor. In addition, it offers a good alternative to dibond or canvas fine art prints. The artwork is being made with the help of state-of-the-art UV direct printing machines. With an acrylic glass art print sharp contrasts plus minor artwork details become more visible because of the delicate tonal gradation of the print. The real glass coating protects your chosen art replica against light and heat for several decades.
  • Poster on canvas material: Our poster print is a UV printed flat cotton canvas with a fine finish on the surface, which reminds the original masterpiece. Please note, that depending on the size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin between 2-6 cm round about the print motif to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
  • Canvas print: A canvas print is a printed canvas mounted on a wood frame. It creates the extra look of three dimensionality. Also, a canvas print creates a charming, pleasant look. A canvas print has the advantage of being relatively low in weight. This means, it is quite simple to hang up your Canvas print without the use of extra wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suited for all kinds of walls.
  • Aluminium dibond print: An Aluminium Dibond print is a print material with an impressive depth effect. For your Direct Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print your artwork on the aluminium composite surface. The white and bright parts of the work of art shimmer with a silk gloss but without glare. Colors are bright and vivid, details of the print are crisp and clear.
