Johann Nepomuk Reithofferplatz (13/04/1781 Feldberg (Valtice, Czech Republic) - 06.05.1872 Vienna) was an industrialist and inventor. In 1824 he received a privilege in the production of waterproof fabrics, in 1828 another for machine weaving these substances using rubber. In 1831 he established the first factory to produce rubberized fabric on the continent in Vienna, 1852, this was moved to Wimpassing. It is the forerunner of the Semperit-Werke. His brother Josef Reithofferplatz (1796-1858) founded in 1832 in Vienna, a rubber factory that installed his sons in 1865 to Steyr (1931 decommissioned).
