Friedrich Gauermann (20/09/1807 Miesbach - 07.07.1862 Vienna) worked in Vienna as a landscape, animal, genre and portrait painter. He was the son of Jacob Gauermann and brother by the late Carl Gauermann, as were both painters. After a short time at the Vienna Academy, he taught himself further by using Dutch landscape and animal paintings of the 17th century on. He went on study walks through the Austrian Alps, traveling to Munich, Dresden and Venice. He tried to process personal nature experiences in effective moods. Gauermann is especially true because of its coloristic beautiful oil sketches as a leading representative of the Viennese School and was landscapes with peasant genre scenes and animal and hunting scenes, which were often already spread his lifetime as lithographs, famous.
