Fra Bartolomeo, 1497 - Portrait of a Man - fine art print

In painting this fine portrait, which dates about 1497, Fra Bartolomeo took as his model the work of Hans Memling, whose portraits of Florentine merchants in Bruges were well known in Italy. Like Leonardo da Vinci, Fra Bartolomeo had a keen response to nature, drawing landscape views in an album (for example, MMA 57.165; visit metmuseum.org). The inscription with the putative name of the sitter was added later.

Furthermore, alignment is portrait with a side ratio of 3 : 4, meaning that the length is 25% shorter than the width. The painter Fra Bartolomeo was a European artist, whose art style was mainly High Renaissance. The artist lived for a total of 44 years and was born in 1473 and died in the year 1517.
