Dramatically lit and heroically isolated, a Moroccan horseman, fist upraised, charges across a ford, his horse rearing as it gains the riverbank. Behind them stretches an expansive plain where another lone horseman gallops towards a military encampment. The two rearing horses echo each other, just as the foremost horse's tail repeats the form of the weeds on the riverbank. In the background, under a turbulent sky, lies a chain of dark mountains.

Delacroix drew inspiration for this painting from his 1832 trip to Morocco, during which he feverishly took notes and made countless sketches and watercolors. The horsemen he encountered in Morocco were among his favorite subjects. As his writings attest, Delacroix saw in them a living incarnation of the noble of spirit and terrible strength of will that he associated with the heroes of antiquity. He designed this small-scale painting for private contemplation, signaling a general retreat into a more subjective realm of exoticism and fantasy.

  • Canvas print: The printed canvas, not to be mistaken with a painting on a canvas, is a digital image applied directly on cotton canvas fabric. It creates the exclusive effect of three dimensionality. The great advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, meaning that it is easy to hang the Canvas print without the help of additional wall-mounts. Therefore, canvas prints are suited for all kinds of walls.
  • Printed poster on canvas material: The Artprinta poster is a printed cotton canvas with a slight structure on the surface. Please note, that depending on the size of the poster print we add a white margin of approximately 2-6 cm around the print motif, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • Metal (aluminium dibond print): An Aluminium Dibond print is a material with an outstanding effect of depth. The non-reflective surface creates a contemporary impression. For the Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print the chosen artpiece onto the surface of the aluminum.
  • Printed acrylic glass: The acrylic glass print, which is sometimes denoted as a plexiglass print, will convert your favorite original into wonderful décor. In addition to that, the acrylic glass fine art print offers a distinct alternative option to canvas or dibond fine art prints. The work of art is made with state-of-the-art UV direct print technology. This makes intense, impressive colors.
