English: The portrait of Jean Burnay is an impressive example of Zorn’s astonishing skill in watercolour painting. It is also fascinating how the interior, the setting, is employed to enhance the subject of the portrait. Zorn takes a sofa as his only prop, but he uses it to heighten Burnay’s character. The figure appears as magnificent as a peacock with its tail feathers. Porträttet av Jean Burnay är ett imponerande prov på konstnärens enastående skicklighet som akvarellist. Bilden är också ett intressant exempel på hur inredningen, eller porträttets scenografi, är med om att manifestera den avbildade. Zorn använder en soffa som enda rekvisita, men han låter den bli en del av Burnays uppenbarelse. Modellens gestalt blir praktfull på samma sätt som påfågeln med sin stjärtfjädrar.
