In composing this scene, Van de Velde relied on various preliminary drawings made from life. His superb skills as a painter of figures and animals were renowned in the 17th century, and he was regularly asked to paint the staffage in the landscapes and city views of other artists.

The Hut is a piece of art by Adriaen van de Velde in 1671. Adriaen van de Velde was a painter, printmaker, whose style can be attributed primarily to Baroque. The European painter lived for a total of 36 years and was born in the year 1636 in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands and passed away in 1672.
