The France wearing a coat fleurdelisé and seconded by Time, serious on the pedestal: "HOPE OF THE GOLDEN AGE". Hive, olive branches shovel sheaf of wheat, grapes, winged hourglass, palm, engineering, carrying a laurel wreath. Basically, the Bastille.

The set of six paintings which includes the work probably formed the mural of a room, perhaps a tavern.
