This over 110 years old piece of art Auguste Rodin was created by the male artist Robert MacCameron. The 110 year old version of the work of art was painted with the following size 39 5/16 x 31 15/16 in (99,8 x 81,1 cm) and was painted with the techinque of oil on canvas. This artwork belongs to the digital art collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. With courtesy of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Gift of J. Pierpont Morgan, 1912 (licensed - public domain). The creditline of the artwork is: Gift of J. Pierpont Morgan, 1912. Moreover, alignment of the digital reproduction is portrait and has an aspect ratio of 1 : 1.2, which implies that the length is 20% shorter than the width.

In August 1910 MacCameron noted in his journal that he had visited "Rodin, the greatest of sculptors—he is a charming person—a splendid big head, with light grey warm creamy hair and beard. . . . I am [interested] in the idea of painting a good portrait of [him]." The likeness, completed by late September, shows the sculptor holding a model of his iconic work The Thinker. Rodin and MacCameron discussed sending the portrait to The Met, but it traveled instead to New York's Academy of Design and Pittsburgh's Carnegie Institute. Collector and financier J. Pierpont Morgan aquired it and, in 1912, he gave it to The Met, where it hung in a new gallery dedicated to Rodin.
