This 19th century artpiece was painted by the artist Nils Forsberg. The original had the size: Height: 48 cm (18,8 ″); Width: 40 cm (15,7 ″) Framed: Height: 62 cm (24,4 ″); Width: 54 cm (21,2 ″); Depth: 4 cm (1,5 ″). Oil on canvas was applied by the artist as the medium of the masterpiece. Today, the artpiece is in the the digital art collection of Nationalmuseum Stockholm. English: From March to May 1871, Paris was governed by a revolutionary commune. Its supporters were called communards. The majority were radical-democratic petit bourgeois and workers. They introduced several fundamental social reforms – the separation of church and state, free schooling for all and prohibitions against night-work. Nils Forsberg, who experienced the Paris Commune on site, portrayed the communard Lambert. After the fall of the Commune, some 38,000 communards were arrested; 7,500 of them were deported to New Caledonia for forced labour. Thousands were executed. The fate of Lambert himself is unknown. Från mars till maj år 1871 styrdes Paris av en revolutionär stadsstyrelse – kommunen. Dess anhängare kallades kommunarder. Majoriteten var radikaldemokratiska småborgare och arbetare. De genomförde flera genomgripande samhällsreformer såsom skilsmässa mellan kyrka och stat, fri skolgång för alla och förbud mot nattarbete. Nils Forsberg, som upplevde Pariskommunen på plats, porträtterade kommunarden Lambert. Efter kommunens fall arresterades ca 38,000 kommunarder, 7,500 av dem skickades till Nya Kaledonien för tvångsarbete. Tusentals avrättades. Lamberts öde är okänt.
