The tower of Solferino was built in 1859 in the location of the mill of the Lancet, demolished in 1827. It was named for the Battle of Solferino (24 June 1859) and was occupied by a tavern; we enjoyed from the upper platform of a panoramic view of Paris and its region. It was partially leveled early in the siege of Paris, on 20 September 1870 to avoid serving mark in the Prussian artillery. It was completely demolished in 1874. It occupied the approximate location of the Sacred Heart.
