Gustav Klimt, 1895 - Josef Lewinsky als Carlos Clavigo - fine art print

In 1895 Gustav Klimt created the modern art work of art. The original measures the size: 60 x 44 cm - frame dimensions: 65 x 45 x 4 cm showcases dimensions: 94 × 74 × 14,5 cm. LEWINSKY. / AS CARLOS IN Clavigo. was the masterpiece's inscription. It belongs to the digital collection of Belvedere. We are glad to state that the public domain artpiece is being supplied with courtesy of © Belvedere, Vienna, inventory number: 494. In addition to that, the artwork has the following creditline: society for Reproducing Art, Vienna (in return for subsidy) in 1902. What is more, the alignment is portrait and has a ratio of 2 : 3, which means that the length is 33% shorter than the width. The painter Gustav Klimt was a European artist, whose style can be classified as Art Nouveau. The Austrian painter lived for 56 years and was born in 1862 in Vienna state, Austria and died in the year 1918 in Vienna, Vienna state, Austria.

The painting was commissioned by the Society for Reproducing Art as an illustration template for the magnificent work "The Theater of Vienna's" (Volume II, Part 3). Unlike other orders of society for this, which, inter alia, were executed by Hans Temple, Andreas Groll and Adolf Hiremy-Hirschl as grisailles in historicist style (inv. no. 489-493), Klimt put his picture, however, much more modern to. The actor appears on a darkened groin in black costume, making only his face and his white shirt the dark background stand out. This relatively narrow central portion is flanked by two almost equally large side panels, of which the right allegory of the theater is that emerges from the flue of an antique incense boiler.
