The portrait is one of many examples of Amerling's later years, showing the head of the sitter in a decorative oval format. It is striking that the woman, as it is not otherwise consistently usual with Amerling, the viewer sees past or is even shown in lighter side view, but just looking out the picture and seems to fix their counterparts with the view. This modern art masterpiece was painted by the male Austrian painter Friedrich von Amerling in 1872. The version of the painting had the size of 61 x 48,5 cm - frame dimensions: 87 x 75 x 10 cm and was painted with the technique oil on canvas. It belongs to the Belvedere's digital art collection, which is one of Europe's most famous museums with three locations that blends the experience of architecture and art in a unique way. With courtesy of: © Belvedere, Vienna, inventory number: 2686 (licensed: public domain). The creditline of the artpiece is: transfer from the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna in 1927. Moreover, alignment is in portrait format with a ratio of 1 : 1.2, which implies that the length is 20% shorter than the width. Friedrich von Amerling was a painter, whose art style can be classified as Biedermeier. The Biedermeier painter was born in 1803 in Vienna, Vienna state, Austria and died at the age of 84 in the year 1887.
