This over 350 years old painting was painted by the Dutch painter Jan Steen. The 350 years old version of the painting had the following size: height: 60,5 cm width: 48,5 cm | height: 23,8 in width: 19,1 in. Oil on panel was used by the Dutch painter as the medium of the work of art. The artpiece has the following text as inscrption: signed: JSteen.. The creditline of the artpiece is: Johan van Schuylenburch sale, The Hague, 20 September 1735 (Lugt 453), no. 71 (175 guilders); Isaak Hoogenbergh sale, Amsterdam, 10 April 1743 (Lugt 576), no. 38 (for 150 guilders to Lormier); Willem Lormier, The Hague; his sale, The Hague, 4 July 1763 (Lugt 1307), no. 256 (for 460 guilders to Tethart Philipp Christian Haag for Prince William V); Prince William V, The Hague, 1763-1795; confiscated by the French, transferred to the Muséum central des arts/Musée Napoléon (Musée du Louvre), Paris, 1795-1815; Royal Picture Gallery, housed in the Prince William V Gallery, The Hague, 1816; transferred to the Mauritshuis, 1822. Besides this, the alignment of the digital reproduction is portrait with a ratio of 1 : 1.2, which implies that the length is 20% shorter than the width. Jan Steen was a painter of Dutch nationality, whose art style can be attributed primarily to Baroque. The Baroque artist was born in the year 1626 in Alkmaar, North Holland, Netherlands and deceased at the age of 53 in the year 1679.
