Artwork description by Rijksmuseum website (© Copyright - Rijksmuseum - www.rijksmuseum.nl)

This painting is traditionally called the Nocturnal Battle. However, the naval battle at Kijkduin, between Cornelis Tromp on the Gouden Leeuw and Sir Edward Spragg on the Royal Prince, actually took place in daylight hours on 21 August 1673. It looks like night only because the encounter is shown partially hidden behind clouds of smoke and gunpowder fumes. While the Dutch flagship is sinking at the right, Tromp battles on from a captured ship.

A printed canvas of your favorite masterpiece will let you turn your fine art print into a large size work of art like you know from art galleries. The great advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight. This means, it is easy and straightforward to hang the Canvas print without the support of additional wall-mounts. Hence, canvas prints are suitable for any type of wall.
  • Printed poster (canvas material): The poster print is a UV printed flat canvas paper with a granular finish on the surface. It is optimally appropriate for framing the art replica using a personal frame. Please bear in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of around 2 - 6cm round about the painting in order to facilitate the framing.
  • Print on glossy acrylic glass: The acrylic glass print, which is often labelled as a an art print on plexiglass, will transform your original work of art into home decoration. The artwork will be made with the help of modern UV print technology. This creates sharp and rich colors. With an acrylic glass fine art print contrasts and also small color details will be more visible because of the fine gradation.
