The prophet Elijah awakened at dawn in the desert by an angel. The prophet looks verschrift on the angel pointing backwards with the left hand. Constructed in 1624-25 as part of a series of eight paintings for the chapel of the sacraments in the church of San Paolo fuori le mura in Rome.
