This allegorical representation of Asia is part of a series of the four continents, painted as an overdoor. It is possible that, like the other large-scale allegorical frescoes in this gallery, it may have been detached around 1900 from the Palazzo Valle-Marchesini-Sala in Vicenza.

This masterpiece with the title Asia was painted by the painter Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo. The painting has the following size: 32 1/4 x 41 3/4 in (81,9 x 106 cm). Fresco, transferred to canvas was applied by the painter as the technique for the piece of art. Today, the work of art is included in the The Metropolitan Museum of Art's digital collection in New York City, New York, United States of America. The creditline of the artwork is the following: Bequest of Grace Rainey Rogers, 1943. The alignment is in landscape format with a ratio of 4 : 3, meaning that the length is 33% longer than the width. Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo was a male painter, printmaker from Italy, whose style can mainly be classified as Rococo. The Rococo artist was born in the year 1727 in Venice, Venezia province, Veneto, Italy and died at the age of 77 in the year 1804.
