Amerling excellent painting culture based on a multi-month stay in London (1827/1828), where he could study the works of English portraiture. A special model was him Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830). From this he was inspired to tasteful combination of individual picture elements, as here, the combination of white and red with the black hair and the blue gray of the sky. Marie Baroness Vesque of Püttlingen (1814-1889) is shown her marriage to Johann Evangelist Baron Vesque of Püttlingen (1803-1883) a year. Johann (Jean) is music friends as John Hoven a term. Under this pseudonym he wrote several operas, fairs, choral pieces, string and Klaviersonaten, he also set poems of Heinrich Heine. [Sabine Grabner 8/2009]
