Marl is a crumbly mixture of clays, calcium, and magnesium carbonates, often used as fertilizer for lime-deficient soils.

This over 160 year-old piece of art "The Marl Pit at Mulcent: Evening" was painted by the male French painter Antoine Chintreuil in 1857. The version of the artpiece was made with the following size: Framed: 64,2 x 115,8 x 7,7 cm (25 1/4 x 45 9/16 x 3 1/16 in); Unframed: 47,6 x 99,2 cm (18 3/4 x 39 1/16 in). Oil on paper, mounted to cardboard, mounted to plywood was used by the European artist as the technique for the artpiece. The artwork's inscription is the following: "signed lower left: Chintreuil". This artwork can be viewed in in the The Cleveland Museum of Art's collection in Cleveland, Ohio, United States of America. The modern art public domain masterpiece is included with courtesy of The Cleveland Museum of Art. Also, the artpiece has the creditline: Bequest of Noah L. Butkin. On top of that, alignment is in landscape format and has a side ratio of 2 : 1, which implies that the length is two times longer than the width. Antoine Chintreuil was a male painter of French nationality, whose art style was primarily Realism. The Realist painter was born in 1814 in Pont-de-Vaux, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France and deceased at the age of 59 in the year 1873 in Septeuil, Ile-de-France, France.
