Equestrian Portrait of Pieter de Roovere (1602-1652) was created by the male artist Aelbert Cuyp. The more than 370 year-old original creation measures the size: height: 123,5 cm width: 154 cm | height: 48,6 in width: 60,6 in and was painted on the medium oil on canvas. The original painting has the following text as inscrption: signed: A. cuijp. It belongs to the Mauritshuis's digital art collection, which the Mauritshuis is home to the best artworks of Dutch painting of the seventeenth century. The creditline of the artwork is the following: Probably Pieter de Roovere and his heirs, Dordrecht; Ocker Repelaer van Driel, Dordrecht, 1804-1820; purchased, 1820 (exhibited in the Royal Picture Gallery, housed in the Prince William V Gallery, The Hague); transferred to the Mauritshuis, 1822. Further, the alignment of the digital reproduction is landscape and has an image ratio of 1.2 : 1, meaning that the length is 20% longer than the width. Aelbert Cuyp was a male painter, whose art style can be classified as Baroque. The Baroque painter was born in 1621 in Dordrecht, South Holland, Netherlands and passed away at the age of 70 in the year 1691.
