The bright and white parts of the original artpiece shimmer with a silky gloss, however without glow. The colors of the print are vivid and luminous, the fine details of the print are clear and crisp, and you can literally perceive the matte appearance of the product.
  • Poster (canvas material): Our poster is a UV printed canvas with a granular structure on the surface, which reminds the actual masterpiece. Please keep in mind, that depending on the size of the poster we add a white margin of approximately 2-6 cm around the painting, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • Canvas: The printed canvas, which shall not be confused with an artwork painted on a canvas, is a digital replica printed onto canvas fabric. Hanging a canvas print: The advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight. That means, it is quite simple to hang up your Canvas print without the support of additional wall-mounts. A canvas print is suitable for any kind of wall.
  • The acrylic glass print: An print on acrylic glass, often denoted as a an art print on plexiglass, transforms an original work of art into marvellous décor. In addition to that, the acrylic glass fine art print is a good alternative option to aluminium and canvas fine art prints. The work of art is made with modern UV print technology. The plexiglass protects your chosen art print against light and heat for between 40-60 years.

Important legal note: We try whatever we can to describe the art products as accurate as it is possible and to showcase them visually. Please bear in mind that the colors of the print materials and the printing may diverge slightly from the image on your screen. Depending on the settings of your screen and the condition of the surface, color pigments might not be printed as realistically as the digital version depicted here. Given that the art prints are printed and processed by hand, there may as well be slight discrepancies in the motif's size and exact position.

Original information about the work of art by the museum (© - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - www.metmuseum.org)

In 1880 Marie Berna, the American-born widow of a German diplomat, visited Böcklin in Florence, where she saw an unfinished first version of this painting (now in the Kunstmuseum Basel) on his easel. She commissioned the present work as a memorial to her husband, requesting the additions of the draped coffin and the shrouded female figure. Prodded by his dealer, Böcklin painted three other versions by 1886. This romantic image would become one of Germany's most beloved, widely circulated through poor reproductions as well as a related etching of 1890 by Max Klinger (1857–1920).
