Melchior d’Hondecoeter is the best-known bird painter of the 17th century. He brought the genre to great heights. He portrayed birds from all over the world with a great sensitivity for detail, colour, and animation: chicken, hoopoe or parrot, he observed them all equally closely. This oil sketch of chicks affords unique insight into D’Hondecoeter’s working practice. He used such studies as the basis for his monumental park landscapes (on view in Gallery 2.22), which feature diverse species of birds. Depicted in this sketch are seven chicks in various poses. They were frequently reused in a ‘copy & paste’ fashion in his paintings, as for instance in his Birds on a Balustrade.

  • The acrylic glass print: An acrylic glass print, which is often described as a plexiglass print, will change an original work of art into décor and offers a distinct alternative to dibond or canvas fine art prints. Your favorite work of art is printed with modern UV direct print machines. It makes intense and sharp colors. With an acrylic glass art print contrasts plus image details become recognizeable due to the fine tonal gradation in the picture. Our acrylic glass protects your custom art replica against light and heat for up to 60 years.
  • The canvas print: A printed canvas, which should not be confused with a canvas painting, is a digital copy applied on a cotton canvas. Hanging a canvas print: Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, which implies that it is quite simple to hang up the Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. Hence, a canvas print is suited for any kind of wall.
  • Metal print (aluminium dibond): Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with an outstanding depth effect, creating a contemporary look thanks to a non-reflective surface structure. For the Direct Aluminium Dibond print, we print your favorite artpiece right on the aluminium surface. The colors of the print are vivid and luminous, the details of the print appear crisp and clear, and you can notice a matte appearance of the product. This UV print on Aluminum Dibond is the most popular entry-level product and is a modern way to display art, since it puts 100% of the viewer’s attention on the artwork.
  • Poster (canvas material): Our poster print is a printed sheet of cotton canvas with a nice finish on the surface. It is perfectly suited for placing the art print using a customized frame. Please bear in mind, that depending on the size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of around 2-6cm round about the print motif, which facilitates the framing.
