Original artwork description as provided by the museum's website (© - The Metropolitan Museum of Art - The Metropolitan Museum of Art)

This subtle portrait, with its smoothly blended surface and narrow color range, is believed to represent Jean Jacques Caffiéri, Greuze’s contemporary and a prominent sculptor. The sitter’s mild expression belies a strong character. A very old label with the names of artist and sitter is glued to the stretcher bar that supports the canvas, so that when the work reappeared in 1912 it was tentatively identified with the portrait of Caffiéri that Greuze showed at the 1765 Salon.

The classic art painting called Jean Jacques Caffiéri (1725-1792) was painted by the male French artist Jean-Baptiste Greuze in 1765. The original was made with the size: Oval, 25 1/4 x 20 3/4 in (64,1 x 52,7 cm) and was manufactured with the techinque oil on canvas. Nowadays, this artpiece belongs to the art collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Choose your fine art print material option

We offer a range of different sizes and materials for every product. Pick your favorite size and material among the following options:

  • Aluminium dibond (metal print): This is a metal print made on aluminium dibond with a true depth. A non-reflective surface make a modern look. The bright and white parts of the artwork shine with a silk gloss, however without any glow. The colors of the print are luminous and bright in the highest definition, fine details of the print appear crisp.
  • Canvas print: A canvas print is a printed cotton canvas mounted on a wooden frame. It generates a particular impression of three dimensionality. Your canvas print of this masterpiece will allow you to transform your individual fine art print into a large work of art. How do I hang a canvas on my wall? Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, meaning that it is easy to hang up the Canvas print without the use of additional wall-mounts. That is why, a canvas print is suited for all types of walls.
  • Poster print (canvas material): The poster print is a printed sheet of canvas paper with a granular surface finish, which resembles the original work of art. Please bear in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of something between 2-6cm round about the artwork, which facilitates the framing with a custom frame.
  • Print on acrylic glass (with real glass coating on top): A glossy print on acrylic glass, which is sometimes referenced as a print on plexiglass, will transform the original artwork into beautiful wall décor. Furthermore, the acrylic print forms a distinct alternative option to aluminium or canvas fine art replicas. With an acrylic glass fine art print contrasts and details become recognizeable because of the delicate gradation in the picture.
