This icon has two saints groups turned three quarters, hands raised in a gesture of prayer to the Holy Face, represented on a smaller scale on the upper edge. At left are represented St. Theodore, Prince David and Prince Constantine. On the right, St. Basil and St. Constantine. These are Russian saints whose main work was to defend their land against the Tatar invasions.

There is a set of very similar icons depicting Russian saints and with the same characteristics: composition of the icon shows one or more saints in prayer before the image of Christ or the Mother of God, ornate clothes, faces round and jouflus, hands and feet thin and small, gilded inscriptions whose letters penetrate into each other. These icons have all been identified as being of the same iconographer Procopius Chihirin. This painter had an abundant production, especially for the merchants and patrons of the Stroganov family, died in the mid-seventeenth century.
