In the ruins of a Gothic architecture, Virgin and Child receive the gifts of the three wise men, the sound of singing angels. Joseph, back, look at the scene. A long procession came to adore the Child, ranges along the winding path that sinks into the depth of paysage.Ce painting done in the late fifteenth century, is the work of a Flemish painter whose identity is unknown. To compose his painting, the artist may have drawn in two models. The first is the "Adoration of the Magi" (New York, The Metropolitan Museum), painted by Justus of Ghent, which he seems to have taken the Virgin of posture, the folds of his cloak and space, although more stripped wherein the scene takes place. The landscape of the background, the face of the Virgin, as well as twisting the body of Jesus and his relationship with the first mage evoke in turn the art of Hans Memling. The artist may have had knowledge of the "Triptych of the two saints John" (Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum). The table is therefore connected easily to a specific workshop, but it fits perfectly in the Flemish productions of the fifteenth century.

The table included in the Odiot collection. A photograph is kept in the archives of the Brunner Gallery. On the back is written "Odiot sale" .Before 1910 Charles Vincent Ocampo acquired it. Then in 1931 he donated it subject to usufruct, to the City of Paris, and raised the usufruct in 1942.
