The Vedute "Rome from Monte Mario" comes from the period after Romako Marriage (1862) with Sophie Köbel - a half-Italian of fascinating beauty that impressed Franz Liszt. He served as best man, even though he saw the marriage Romako with the spoiled, demanding woman with skepticism. "It was the beginning of a tragedy the most terrible way," a contemporary wrote about this wedding. From one part of the dowry, the young couple bought a villa on Monte Mario, near the monastery of Santa Maria del Rosario (where Liszt lived). There Romako spent some successful, happy years.
