Shortly after the completion of the portrait of an elderly woman in 1909 began Gustav Klimt to paint a wrapped in a wide cloak mother with her two children. The clear differentiation dark homogeneous from light-modeled skin color and treatment of most of the rest surface of the painting proved to be groundbreaking for later image compositions by Egon Schiele.
