Background information on this more than 160 year-old artpiece

In the year 1852 the artist Josef Holzer created the masterpiece Mountains. The painting has the size 101 x 116 cm - frame: 132 × 150 × 11 cm and was made on the medium oil on canvas. The painting has the following inscription: "signed and Dated: Holzer 1852". Nowadays, this artwork forms part of the Belvedere's digital art collection in Vienna, Austria. The modern art artwork, which belongs to the public domain is being provided with courtesy of © Belvedere, Vienna, inventory number: 3120. In addition to that, the work of art has the following creditline: transfer from the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna in 1921. What is more, the alignment of the digital reproduction is in landscape format and has an image ratio of 1.2 : 1, meaning that the length is 20% longer than the width. The painter Josef Holzer was an artist, whose artistic style can primarily be classified as Realism. The Realist painter was born in the year 1824 in Vienna and deceased at the age of 52 in 1876 in Vienna.
