Allegory of the engagement of Louis XV with the Infanta of Spain (1722). Sketch of collective portrait of the Office of the City of Paris. The officers of the City knelt before Louis XV sitting on a throne supported by the Regent and surrounded the three Graces. The Duke of Orleans is guided by Minerva, symbol of wisdom, which covers its aegis; she holds a portrait of the Infanta supported by two geniuses. Another genius connects the lion of Spain with a blue ribbon of the Holy Spirit while the French rooster receives the Golden Fleece, marking the union of the two nations (description contains the terms of the contract signed August 11, 1722 ).
