In 1449, St. Anne brotherhood of Parisian goldsmiths decided to offer the first of May, a "may" before the portal of Notre-Dame "in honor and reverence of the glorious Virgin Mary. "It was initially a tree (real or fake?) On which hung offerings and poems, which was replaced in the late fifteenth century by a" tabernacle "which was presented the plaques to about Marian accompanied by explanatory poems. The last of these "tabernacles", triangular, received between 1608 and 1630 a series of three paintings, changed every year, we had called the little "mays".
