St. Stephen's Cathedral was one of the favorite subjects of Rudolf von Alt, he has shown him by his own account over a hundred times. Our picture is the earliest painted in oil view the landmark of Vienna. Alts works are characterized by their artful play of light, topographical accuracy and a bold perspective. It uses an extremely deep focus, whereby the church rises from the narrow monumental building complex. The more than 180 year-old work of art was painted by Rudolf von Alt. The original creation measures the size: 46 x 57,5 cm - frame dimensions: 69 x 82 x 12 cm - Glazed. Oil on canvas was applied by the European painter as the medium of the masterpiece. Signed and dated lower center: Rudolph Alt 1832; including presumably by someone else: Rudolf Alt / 1832 is the painting's inscription. Today, this piece of art is included in the Belvedere's collection, which is located in Vienna, Austria.
