By the sea, away from the rocks, a group of young women is represented in the company of children, at the hour of swimming. On the right, the wife of the painter, Martha, standing in light dress, embraces her newborn Bernadette she holds against her face. Next to her right, a woman wearing a straw hat undresses the other daughter of the painter, Noële, aged three years. Left, Martha is also shown lying naked on the sand, next to a child. Near a rock, a woman off her corset. Further, a naked woman clutching her child walking in the water, and two friends, skirts rolled up.

From frequent trips to Britain where he liked to reside and blended freely in the workshop, the beaches of Maurice Denis highlight the aesthetic richness of a turn or sublimated theme intimate turn. Denis combined the happiest moments of his life at the mention of this Breton land, alternating coasts of North and South beaches, such as that of Pouldu.
