English: This biblical story is set in the time of the Babylonian siege of Judea. It speaks of Divine power acting through one of its creatures, the young widow Judith, who liberates her people by beheading Holofernes, King Nebuchadnezzar’s general. Judith is portrayed as a vulnerable young woman standing alone in the murdered general’s tent. Holding the still bloody sword, she places one hand gently on the general’s severed head. Her face expresses both horror and melancholy. Denna bibliska historia utspelar sig vid tiden för babyloniernas belägring av Judea. Uppfylld av gudomlig kraft, befriar den unga änkan Judit sitt folk genom att halshugga Holofernes, kung Nebukadnessars general. Judit skildras som en sårbar, ung kvinna, ensam i den mördade fältherrens tält. I ena handen håller hon det ännu blodiga svärdet, medan hon varsamt lägger den andra på fiendens avhuggna huvud. This painting was painted by the baroque painter Bernardo Cavallino in 165. The over 1850 year-old original measures the size of Height: 118 cm (46,4 ″); Width: 94 cm (37 ″) Framed: Height: 145 cm (57 ″); Width: 118 cm (46,4 ″); Depth: 11 cm (4,3 ″) and was crafted on the medium oil on canvas. Today, this piece of art can be viewed in in the Nationalmuseum Stockholm's collection. Furthermore, alignment of the digital reproduction is portrait and has a side ratio of 3 : 4, meaning that the length is 25% shorter than the width. Bernardo Cavallino was a painter from Italy, whose artistic style was mainly Baroque. The Baroque painter lived for a total of 40 years - born in 1616 in Naples, Napoli province, Campania, Italy and died in 1656.
