Thorvaldsen is here seen in a Roman hostelry, seated at the end of a well-laid table. On his right are the painters Ernst Meyer, Blunck himself in profile and Jørgen Sonne wearing a grey top hat. Just coming in through the door is Constantin Hansen, and at the other long side of the table, Gottlieb Bindesbøll – the architect of Thorvaldsens Museum – is turning to say something to the waiter. Wilhlem Marstrand is poking his head forward just behind Bindesbøll, and the artist drawing the scene on the left is Albert Küchler. All the painters in the picture are represented with works in Thorvaldsen’s collection of paintings.

Danish artists at the Osteria La Gensola in Rome is a painting created by the painter Ditlev Blunck. The original had the following size - 74,5 x 99,4 cm. Oil on canvas was used by the Danish artist as the technique for the artpiece. Today, this work of art forms part of the collection of Thorvaldsens Museum, which is a single-artist museum dedicated to the art of Danish neoclassicistic sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen.
