This panel was painted in 1781 for the second Turkish room of the apartments of the comte d'Artois (later Charles X [1757-1836; r. 1824-30]) at Versailles. The eight extant panels from this room (six now in the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, and two in the Metropolitan Museum) have been attributed to Jean-Siméon Rousseau de la Rottière (1747-after 1792) and his brother Jules-Hugues Rousseau (1743-1806). Turkish subjects continued to be popular as decoration in France through the second half of the eighteenth century.

Because of thata canvas print is suitable for any kind of wall.
  • The poster print (canvas material): A poster print is a UV printed cotton canvas with a slightly roughened surface texture, which resembles the original artwork. It is perfectly suited for putting the art print with a special frame. Please keep in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of around 2-6 cm around the artwork, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • Aluminium dibond: This is a metal print manufactured on aluminium dibond with an impressive effect of depth. The bright and white parts of the original artwork shimmer with a silky gloss but without the glare.
